Entry into the EU from non-EU countries or territories
As the European Union (EU) does not share the same legislation and measures with third countries, the conditions for the movement of pets from these countries differ from one another. They are particularly strict when it comes to rabies vaccination, as this is the only way to ensure the safety of animals and people from this deadly disease.
The European Union is tightening the conditions for bringing dogs, cats and white ferrets. The rules changed and from September 16, 2024 onwards, a rabies antibody titration test performed in an approved laboratory and with a sufficient rabies antibody titer will be mandatory for entry. The test will have to be taken at least three months before entering the EU.
